Switch between service views, dates and shifts

Needs: Any staff user

The Service View can show the same reservations in four ways. This article explains the view buttons, the date and shift controls in the header, and how the same views work on a phone.

Where to find it

Host App › Service View. The view buttons are the icons at the top left of the header (on Split view they sit in the list pane).

What it does

The four views

  • Split – reservation list on the left, live floor plan on the right. Best for seating and moving guests. (The setting calls this the Floor plan view.)
  • Timeline – one row per table, reservations laid out across the service hours. Best for planning and spotting gaps.
  • List – a plain chronological list of reservations, with grouping, filters and the Print the day button.
  • Walk-in – a party-size × table matrix to seat walk-ins in one tap. Only shown when the Walk-in seating add-on is on.

Header controls

  • Date: the arrows go to the previous or next day; tap the date to open a picker with week and month views and optional heat maps (covers, tables, reservations). A Today shortcut brings you back to today. A closed day is marked Closed.
  • Clock: the current time.
  • Shift chips: All Day plus the shifts configured for that day (for example Lunch, Dinner). A shift that is closed for new bookings shows a hint; its existing reservations are still shown. With Reservation Experiences enabled you can show experience chips instead of, or next to, the shift chips (Settings › General › Service header).
  • Buttons on the right (some move into the More actions "…" menu on smaller screens): VIPs/Guests today, Availability (sections and online booking), Search, Print the day (List view only), Fullscreen, Notifications, and Payments in the overflow menu.

On a phone, the view is chosen from a View dropdown (List, Timeline, Floor, Walk-in, plus Dashboard). The date sits in the top bar.

How to switch view

  1. Tap the icon for Split, Timeline, List or Walk-in.
  2. The app remembers the last view you used on this device.

How to change date or shift

  1. Use the arrows next to the date, or tap the date to pick another day.
  2. Tap a shift chip to only see that shift, or All Day to see the whole day.

Good to know

  • Switching to List always resets the shift filter to All Day, so the list starts with the full day.
  • Switching the device to Simple display mode moves you to the Timeline once (you can change view afterwards).
  • Each view can be switched off per device in Settings › General › Service views. At least one view always stays on. If the view you were on is switched off, the app jumps to the next available view.
  • Walk-ins can only be seated on today's date, whatever view you use.

Troubleshooting

One of the view buttons is missing It has been turned off on this device in Settings › General › Service views, or (for Walk-in) the Walk-in seating add-on is not enabled for the location. An admin turns the add-on on in Backoffice › Settings › Add-ons.

On my phone the Floor or Dashboard option is missing from the View menu Simple display mode hides Floor plan on phones and Dashboard. Turn them back on in Settings › General › Display mode (Advanced, or Custom with those toggles on).

I can't switch off a view in Settings It is the last view still enabled. Turn another view on first.

I only see part of the day A shift chip is selected. Tap All Day.

The Print button is gone Print the day is only available in the List view.

The day shows "This day is closed" The date is closed in your opening hours or a day override. See "Work on a day that is closed".
