How to set one up

  1. On Roles & Permissions, click Copy next to the built-in role in the table, or New Role.
  2. Give the role a clear name that says what it's for, for example "Floor staff (Host App only)".
  3. Change the permissions as listed and click Create Role.
  4. Give the role to the people concerned. See "Give someone a role".
  5. Ask them to reload, and check with them that they see what they need.

Good to know

  • A clear role name helps everyone. The name shows in user lists and role dropdowns.
  • Prefer one custom role per job over many small differences. It's easier to keep track of.
  • To give one person different rights at one location, use a location role in HQ › User Management rather than a new custom role.
  • See "Permission reference" for every permission and which built-in roles have it.

Troubleshooting

The floor designer can't open the floor plan editor Check that Open the back office is still ticked on their role. The floor plan editor is in the Backoffice.

The team lead can't change someone's role That person is an admin, or the team lead tried to change their own role. Only Owners and Admins can do that. See "Who can change roles".
