Seat a walk-in
Guests without a reservation can be seated in a few taps from any service view. The Host App suggests a table that is free for long enough and records the walk-in as a seated reservation.
Where to find it
Host App › Service View, on today's date:
- Timeline: the Walk-in: bar at the bottom (buttons 1–8 and a custom size), or click an empty row close to the NOW line.
- Split view: Seat a walk-in in the list pane, then tap a highlighted table.
- List view: the walk-in bar.
- + button (New Reservation) opened for now: the pane starts in Walk-in mode.
- Table panel of a free table: Seat Walk-In.
- Walk-in view, if your location has the Walk-in seating add-on (see "Use the Walk-in view").
What it does
- Creates a reservation with status Seated, the current time and the location's default duration, named "Walk-in" (you can add a name, phone and email).
- Suggests tables that are free for the full stay first; tables that are only free until the next booking are shown with the minutes available ("… min until next reservation").
- On the timeline, a suggested walk-in appears as an orange "Walk-in … PAX" block that you can drag to another table or time, add tables to, or click to confirm. Show refined suggestions replaces the first suggestions with a more precise server calculation when it is ready.
How to seat a walk-in from the timeline
- Tap the party size in the Walk-in: bar (or the custom button for larger groups).
- Check the orange block on the suggested table. Drag it to another row if you prefer, or use Add table to combine tables.
- Click the block to confirm.
How to seat a walk-in from an empty slot
- Click an empty part of a table row close to the NOW line ("Click to seat a walk-in now").
- In the popup choose Party size, optionally an Experience and Duration (Fit gap shortens the stay to end before the next booking).
- Under More options add name, phone, email or special requests.
- Tap Seat now. If the tables do not cover the party, the button becomes Seat anyway.
How to seat a walk-in from the + button
- Tap +. The pane opens in Walk-in mode (green header) when it is for now.
- Choose party size and select at least one table.
- Add notes if needed and confirm.
Good to know
- Walk-ins can only be created for today.
- Seat Walk-In in a table panel uses the table's maximum capacity as the party size; adjust it afterwards in the reservation if needed.
- Walk-ins are hidden from reservation lists by default (they always show on the timeline and tables). Turn on Settings › Tables › Show walk-ins in reservation lists to list them.
- Walk-ins do not send any email to the guest.
- Refined walk-in suggestions can be switched off per device in Display mode.
Troubleshooting
"Walk-ins can only be created for today." You are viewing another date. Tap Today in the header.
"No available tables for … guests at this time." No table or combination is free now for that party. Try a smaller split of the party, add them to the waitlist or queue, or seat them on a table that frees soon.
"This table is needed at … for …. Seat anyway?" The table has a booking later and the walk-in's default stay would run into it. Seat anyway and tell the guests how long they can stay, or choose another table.
"Failed to create walk-in. Please try again." The walk-in could not be saved; check the connection and try again.
The walk-in bar is missing It only appears when you look at today.
