Open the Host App and find your way around
The Host App is the 10Seat screen for running service at the host stand: seating guests, taking walk-ins and phone bookings, and following the day live. This article explains how to open it and what each menu item is for.
Where to find it
- From the Backoffice: in the sidebar, under Other, click Open Host App. It opens in a new tab and signs you in automatically.
- Directly: open the Host App address and sign in on the Sign in page (labelled "10Seat host") with your normal 10Seat email and password.
What it does
The Host App always works on one location at a time: your Host App location (your primary location). The first screen is the Service View for today.
The menu (sidebar on tablet and desktop, the ☰ button on a phone) contains:
- Service View – the live service screen (floor plan, timeline, list, walk-in). The location name and the current shift are shown on this item; tap the shift to switch shift.
- Pending approvals – only appears when there are reservations with status Pending. The badge shows how many.
- Waitlist – only with the Waitlist add-on. Badges show how many parties are waiting and how many can be seated now.
- Queue – only with the Digital queuing add-on. The badge shows how many parties are in today's queue.
- Guests – your guest list and guest profiles.
- Gift Vouchers – shown with an Upgrade tag and greyed out when gift vouchers are not enabled for the location.
- Guest Messaging – only when Guest Chat is enabled.
- Email delivery – which guests received and opened their confirmation email.
- Payments – payments received through Mollie.
- Shift Brief – a summary of VIPs, allergies, notes and late arrivals.
- Reservation bin – cancelled and no-show reservations.
- Locations and Day notes – only for users with the "Manage locations" permission (by default Owner and Admin).
- Settings – device preferences, your account, and Help & support.
- Sign Out.
Several of these items can be hidden per device in Settings › General › Display mode (for example, Simple mode hides Gift vouchers, Email delivery, Payments, Shift brief and Reservation bin from the menu).
How to get started
- Open the Host App from the Backoffice (Open Host App) or sign in directly.
- Check the location name at the top of the menu. If it is the wrong restaurant, see Troubleshooting.
- Pick the view you want from the view buttons at the top of the Service View (see "Switch between service views, dates and shifts").
- On a tablet at the host stand, consider turning on fullscreen and choosing a font size in Settings (see "Host App settings: display mode, service views and header" and "Use the Host App on an iPad or tablet").
Good to know
- The Host App follows the language set on your user profile.
- Most preferences in the Host App (display mode, font size, which views are shown, list density) are saved on that device only. Another tablet keeps its own choices.
- To get help without leaving the app, go to Settings › Help & support and click Open support chat. The page you were on, your device and recent app logs are attached automatically.
- There is also a hidden Reservations page (a full reservation list) that is not in the menu.
