Use the Host App on an iPad or tablet
The Host App runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install from an app store. On an iPad or Android tablet at the host stand, a few settings make it feel like a native app.
Where to find it
Open the Host App address in Safari (iPad) or Chrome (Android tablet) and sign in.
What it does
- Tablet layout: an iPad always gets the tablet/desktop layout, also an iPad mini in portrait or Safari in Split View. Phones get the phone layout (View dropdown, bottom bar).
- Home screen app: added to the home screen, the Host App opens full screen without the browser bar, with the 10Seat Host icon.
- Fullscreen button: in the header (and sidebar) on browsers that support fullscreen. On a computer, F11 toggles fullscreen too.
- No accidental zoom: pinch and double-tap zoom of the whole page are blocked so a busy host doesn't zoom the app by mistake. Pinch and scroll zoom still work on the floor plan, and the timeline on a phone has its own zoom buttons.
How to add the Host App to the iPad home screen
- Open the Host App in Safari and sign in.
- Tap the Share button.
- Choose Add to Home Screen and confirm.
- Open the Host App from the new icon. It starts on the Service View in full screen.
Tips for the host stand
- Choose a Font size that is readable from a standing position (Settings › Appearance, for example Big).
- Use Simple display mode for a calm screen, or Custom to keep exactly the tools the team uses (Settings › General).
- On touch screens, press and hold a reservation for about half a second before dragging it; a quick swipe scrolls or pans.
- Turn on Focus selected table (Settings › Tables) if you want the floor plan to jump to the table you select.
- Settings are stored per device: set up each tablet once.
Good to know
- Each tablet keeps its own display choices; the reservations themselves are shared live between all devices.
- Browser translation is disabled in the Host App, because automatic page translation broke the app.
Troubleshooting
There is no fullscreen button The browser does not support the fullscreen function (common on iPhone), or the Fullscreen button is hidden in Display mode. On iPad, add the Host App to the home screen instead.
The iPad shows the phone layout Reload the page. iPads are always meant to get the tablet layout; contact support via Settings › Help & support if it persists.
Dragging a reservation scrolls the screen instead Hold the reservation still for about half a second until it lifts, then drag.
I'm asked to sign in again when opening the home-screen icon Sign in once inside the home-screen app with your normal email and password.
