Live updates, poor connections and "Something went wrong"
The Host App updates live: when a guest books online, a colleague seats a table on another device, or a booking changes in the Backoffice, every open Host App shows it within moments, without refreshing. This article explains what happens when the connection is weak.
Where to find it
This works automatically on every Host App screen. A warning banner appears at the top when there is a problem.
What it does
- Reservations, tables, the waitlist, the queue, notifications and pending approvals are kept in sync live across all devices.
- When the app opens, it first shows what it already has on the device, then confirms with the server.
- If the server has not confirmed the reservations within about 10 seconds, or the device reports it is offline, a banner appears: "Reservations may not be up to date — you appear to be offline or on a poor connection." with a Retry button.
- The banner disappears by itself once fresh data has loaded.
- If one view crashes, you see "This view ran into a problem — You are still signed in. Try again, or reload the page if it keeps happening." with Try again. A full error shows "Something went wrong" with Refresh Page.
How to recover from a connection problem
- Check the device's Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Tap Retry on the banner.
- If the banner stays, reload the page (or close and reopen the Host App on an iPad).
- Until the banner is gone, double-check availability before promising a table: what you see may be missing the latest bookings.
Good to know
- Actions that need the server (creating a reservation, seating, cancelling, sending emails) fail with a "Connection issue" or "could not reach the server" message when offline. Your input in the reservation form stays filled in, so you can retry.
- The Walk-in view shows Live or Reconnecting… in its header.
- Browser page translation is switched off in the Host App on purpose: automatic translation made the app crash. The Host App language follows the language on your user profile, which you change in Backoffice › Settings › Account Settings.
Troubleshooting
"Reservations may not be up to date…" keeps showing The device cannot reach 10Seat. Check the network, then Retry. If other devices on the same Wi-Fi work, reload this device's page.
A booking made on another device does not appear Check that both devices show the same location and date. If they do, tap Retry or reload.
"Failed to load reservations: …" The live connection failed. Reload the page; if it keeps happening, contact 10Seat support via Settings › Help & support.
"This view ran into a problem" Tap Try again. If it repeats, reload the page and tell support what you were doing (the support chat attaches recent logs automatically).
