How guests buy and use a gift voucher online
This article walks through what a guest sees in your online voucher shop, so you can help guests who have questions about buying, receiving or checking a voucher.
Where to find it
- Your shop: gift.10seat.com/shop/… (copy the exact link from Backoffice › Settings › Gift Vouchers).
- The "Buy gift vouchers" button on your booking widget launcher, if Enable Gift Voucher Widget is on.
- Voucher holders: the link in their voucher email, or Check a voucher in the shop menu.
What it does
1. Choose a voucher. The guest picks a preset amount, taps Other to type an amount (between your minimum and maximum), or chooses a product or package under Or give an evening.
2. Who is it for? (Step 1 of 2 — details). The guest enters the recipient's First name, Last name and Their email, their own Your name and Your email, an optional Message (printed on the voucher) and a Delivery choice: Email it to them, Send it to me or Print at home.
3. Payment (Step 2 of 2). The guest chooses Buying as Private person or Company. A company buyer fills in company name, VAT number, address and billing email, and gets a purchase confirmation with those details. Payment runs on your Mollie or MultiSafepay account — either embedded in the page or in a separate payment window.
4. Done. After payment is confirmed the success page shows Sent to (or Your voucher is ready) with the voucher code and validity, Send again, Download PDF, Download purchase confirmation (PDF), and Add to Apple Wallet / Add to Google Wallet on supported phones.
Using the voucher. The voucher page shows the remaining balance, status (Active, Expired, Cancelled, Fully spent) and validity. It offers Book a table with this voucher when you allow guests to add vouchers while booking, otherwise Book a table (your website). Guests quote the code when booking or on arrival; it can be spent across several visits until the value runs out. It is not exchangeable for cash.
Good to know
- The voucher is always emailed to the recipient email entered in step 2, whichever delivery option was chosen. The buyer also gets a confirmation email and the PDF purchase confirmation.
- The voucher is only created once the payment is confirmed by your payment provider. If the guest closes the page early, the voucher still arrives by email once the payment clears.
- The shop opens in your location's language.
- The shop footer shows your legal details and links to Terms & conditions and Privacy statement (your own pages if you set URLs in Location Settings, otherwise pages 10Seat builds from your business details).
- The checkout note says vouchers are refundable within fourteen days while unused. Refunds are handled by you (see "Refund or cancel a gift voucher").
Troubleshooting
Guest paid but sees "Your payment is still being confirmed" The payment provider hasn't confirmed yet. The voucher is emailed as soon as it does. If nothing arrives within an hour, look up the guest in Backoffice › Gift Vouchers (search by name or email) and use Resend email.
Guest sees "This payment came back as … Nothing has been charged." The payment failed, expired or was cancelled at the provider. They can start again from the shop.
Guest sees "Payment cancelled — Nothing has been charged." They cancelled at the payment step. Go back returns them with their details still filled in.
Guest sees "The smallest voucher is …" or "The largest voucher is …" The typed amount is outside your limits. The minimum is set in the Shop page tab; the maximum is 1,000.
"We could not find that voucher." on Check a voucher The code was mistyped. Codes issued by 10Seat are usually eight characters; imported vouchers may also be found by their old code.
Your browser blocked the payment window The guest can click Open or Pay in this tab instead.
