Use the Setup page to get ready for bookings

The Setup page is where you get a location ready to take bookings. It lists what still needs to be done in order of importance, lets you fill in the essentials right on the page, and has Coco, the 10Seat AI assistant, on the left to help or do steps for you.

Where to find it

Backoffice sidebar › Setup. You can also open it from Settings › Coco (marked Beta). The address is /setup or /coco.

The first time you open the dashboard on a location that isn't ready yet, you're taken to Setup automatically and Coco introduces itself. After that, the dashboard shows a reminder card ("… things left before you can take bookings") with a Continue button until all essentials are done.

What it does

Setup checks the selected location and gives each area one of three statuses: Done, Needs attention or Not set up.

Essentials. All five must be done before the page shows Ready to take bookings:

1. Account & location profile: name, street address and city, an email or phone number, and a timezone.
2. Opening hours & booking window: at least one open day with a service shift, and how far ahead guests can book.
3. Booking rules: default reservation duration and advance booking window. A booking cut-off and a maximum of covers per slot are optional.
4. Tables, seats & table groups: at least one table. Without any table groups (linked tables), this stays at Needs attention.
5. Booking widget: live once you tick The widget is on my website, or automatically once a guest has booked through the widget. With only a 10Seat page (microsite) and no widget on your site, it shows Needs attention.

Later — polish. These areas are optional: Branding, Email templates & automations, Guest app, Experiences, 10Seat page, and Holidays & closures. Each one links to its own settings page.

The page is grouped into Now (open essentials), Done — change any time, and Later — polish.

How to set it up

1. Make sure the location you want is selected at the top of the backoffice.
2. Open Setup. The first open essential is expanded.
3. Fill in the card and click Save & continue. Setup checks the location again and opens the next open item. Skip & continue moves on without saving.
4. For tables, click Design Your Floor Plan, add your tables, then come back to Setup.
5. For the widget, click Copy snippet, paste the code into your website (or send it to your web developer), then tick The widget is on my website.
6. To get help, click Ask Coco on a card, or describe your venue in your own words in the Coco panel. Coco proposes changes, and you approve each one with Apply (or Not now) before anything is saved.
7. Click Refresh at any time to check again, for example after changing settings on another page.

Good to know

• Setup always works on the location selected at the top. Each location has its own checklist.
• Inside a card, Full settings opens the complete settings page for that area.
• Without the Coco AI Assistant add-on, Coco answers 3 requests a day. The panel shows how many free requests are left. Enable unlimited Coco opens the add-on page.
• The Setup page can't see your website. Tick The widget is on my website yourself once the snippet is live.
• Limits on the cards: advance booking window 1–730 days; default seating time 30–360 minutes; booking cut-off 0–480 minutes before the shift ends.

Troubleshooting

Tables stays at "Needs attention" although I have tables You have no table groups yet. Create at least one group of tables that can be joined for larger parties (Table Management › Capacity Planning), or leave it as is. Everything else still works.

Booking widget stays "Not set up" or "Needs attention" although the widget is on my site Setup can't see your website. Open the Booking widget card and tick The widget is on my website. It also turns Done automatically after the first booking through the widget.

Account & location profile says "Needs attention" Check that the street, city, an email or phone number and the timezone are all filled in. Open Full settings to go to Settings › Location Settings.

"Could not load your setup status." with a Try again button A temporary loading problem. Click Try again or Refresh. If it persists, contact 10Seat support.

"Select a location to set it up." No location is selected. Choose one in the location switcher at the top.

"You've used today's free Coco requests." The free limit of 3 requests a day is used up. You can still fill in the cards yourself. Coco is available again the next day, or enable the Coco AI Assistant add-on for unlimited use.

Saving a card fails with an error Check the message on the card. If you were signed out, sign in again and retry. If it keeps failing, contact 10Seat support.
