Set your location's address, map pin, timezone and language
Location Settings holds the basic facts about a venue: its name, address, contact details, map position, currency, timezone and the language guests get by default. Booking times, weather, guest emails and distance-based features all depend on these details, so set them carefully.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Settings › Location & Operations › Location Settings. The page applies to the location selected at the top.
What it does
- Basic Information: Location Name, Location Type and a Cover Image (JPEG, PNG or WebP, max 2 MB). The cover image is used on the multi-location widget's location picker.
- Address & Contact:
- Find your business: search by name and the address is filled in below. You see "Address filled in — check it before saving".
- Street Address, City, State, Postal Code, Country.
- Map position: Latitude and Longitude. "Pin set" means a pin is saved. "No pin — distance features are off for this venue" means none is set.
- Weather check: as you type, it shows whether weather can be found for this address and how precisely: from the map pin, street address, postal code or city. It also shows the current weather as the dashboard will show it.
- Email and Phone: the venue's contact details, shown to guests.
- Business & billing details: the legal company behind the location. Needed for the gift card shop (see the gift voucher articles).
- Currency & Localization: Currency (used for gift vouchers and pricing), Timezone (used for reservations and availability) and Default guest language (for guest confirmation emails, reminders and other automatic messages).
How to set it up
- Type your venue name in Find your business and pick it from the list, or fill in the address fields yourself.
- Check the Weather check box under the map position. If it offers Use the street address as the map pin (or the postal code or city), click it to set the pin.
- Check Timezone. If it's empty, 10Seat fills it in from the country. Change it if your venue is in a different time zone.
- Choose Currency and Default guest language.
- Click Save Changes in the bar at the bottom. You see "Location settings saved successfully!"
Good to know
- The timezone matters. A wrong timezone shifts every booking time and every opening hour. Double-check it after changing the country.
- Why set a map pin: weather on the backoffice dashboard and in the Host App uses it. Without a pin, weather uses the city centre and the Host App shows no weather. Group features (suggesting your other venues, sorting by distance) also need a pin on every venue.
- A pin chosen from the weather check is only stored after you click Save Changes ("Map pin set — save to apply it everywhere").
- Guest language is set per location. Your own backoffice language is set in Account Settings.
- Fields marked with a red asterisk are required. The browser won't save the page while one is empty.
Troubleshooting
Clicking Save Changes does nothing, or the browser says "Please fill out this field" A required field is empty. Location Name, Street Address, City, State, Postal Code, Country, Email, Phone and Default Reservation Duration are all required. If your country has no states or provinces, enter your region or city in State.
"Failed to save settings" / "Failed to save location settings. Please try again." Check your connection and retry. Make sure you have rights to edit this location. If it keeps failing, contact 10Seat support.
"Weather is not working for this address" Nothing in the address could be found. Check the spelling of the city and country. If you see "The city search finds nothing, but we found the address", click the button to use it as the map pin, then save.
"Weather is reading the city centre only" No map pin is set. Use one of the Use … as the map pin buttons, or enter latitude and longitude, then save.
"Couldn't reach the weather service" This isn't a problem with your address. Click Check again in a moment.
Booking times are an hour off The Timezone is wrong. Correct it and save.
Guests receive emails in the wrong language Change Default guest language for this location and save.
