Set your opening hours and service shifts
Shifts (also called services) are the periods you take bookings, for example Lunch 12:00–14:30 and Dinner 18:00–22:00. You define each shift once and tick the days it runs. Days without a shift are closed. Without at least one shift, guests can't book online.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Settings › Location & Operations › Location hours and shifts. The page title is Location hours and shifts and the main card is Operating Hours & Shifts.
What it does
- Each shift card (Shift 1, Shift 2, …) has:
- Shift name: the internal name, for example "Lunch Service".
- Widget display name: optional. If set, guests see this label in the booking widget instead of the shift name.
- From and To: start and end time.
- Description: optional, up to 200 characters. Shown to guests in the booking widget under the shift name, for example "3-course set menu, kitchen closes at 21:30".
- A reservation colour: optional. Bookings in this shift get this colour, for example on the floor plan. Choose "Default (no custom color)" to use none.
- Image (Optional): a photo for this service in the booking widget. Upload one or pick a Stock Image.
- Operating Days: tick the weekdays the shift runs.
- Preview shows the resulting week: each day Open with its shifts, or Closed.
- Presets: when you type in Shift name, suggestions appear, such as Lunch Service, Dinner Service, Late Dinner, Brunch, All Day Service, Breakfast, Afternoon Tea and Bar Service. Picking one also fills in typical times.
How to set it up
- Open Location hours and shifts for the right location.
- Fill in the first shift: name, From, To and Operating Days.
- Click Add another shift for each additional service, for example dinner.
- Optionally add a Widget display name, Description, colour or image.
- Check the Preview.
- Click Apply to Operating Hours (on the card, or in the bar that appears at the bottom when you have unsaved changes). You see "Location settings saved successfully!"
To remove a shift, click Remove shift on its card, then click Apply to Operating Hours. Reset throws away unsaved changes.
Good to know
- A shift ending at midnight is saved as 23:59 ("Midnight (00:00) was auto-corrected to 23:59").
- Booking cut-offs and last booking times per shift are set under Planning › Booking Rules, not here.
- One-off changes, such as holidays, an extra opening or a different shift on one date, go in Planning › Service Calendar, not here.
- The order shifts appear in the widget can be changed (see "Change the order shifts appear in the booking widget").
- This page shows each shift once with the days it runs. If a shift has different times on different days, it appears as separate cards, one per set of times.
Troubleshooting
Guests see no times at all in the widget Check that at least one shift has days ticked under Operating Days, that the times are right, and that you clicked Apply to Operating Hours. Also check the booking window and cut-offs under Planning › Booking Rules, and closures in Planning › Service Calendar.
A day shows Closed in the Preview No shift has that weekday ticked. Tick the day on the right shift and save.
I opened the page and see one "Service" shift 11:30–22:00 every day that I never created This location has no saved hours yet, so the page shows a starting example. Change it to your real shifts and save. Nothing is stored until you click Apply to Operating Hours.
"Advanced editor — Open Location Settings" doesn't show day-by-day hours Location Settings doesn't currently have a day-by-day hours editor. Use separate shift cards for different times on different days, and Planning › Service Calendar for single dates.
"Failed to save settings" Retry after checking your connection. If it keeps failing, contact 10Seat support.
The shift name shown to guests is wrong Guests see the Widget display name when it's filled in. Otherwise they see the Shift name. Edit it and save.
