Needs: Any staff user with access to the location

Table types group tables by kind of seating, such as Dining, Bar or Lounge. A type can carry its own booking rules (duration and party sizes), and guests can see the seating options in the booking widget, with a photo and a short description.

Where to find it

Backoffice › Table Management › Table Types.

What it does

For each type you set:

  • Table Type: one of the default types (Dining, Bar, Counter, Lounge, Private) or a Custom Type with your own name (for example Patio or Terrace).
  • Description (Optional): up to 60 characters, shown to guests.
  • Image (Optional): "Add a photo for this table type to show guests what this seating area looks like in the widget."
  • Booking Rules (Optional): Duration (minutes), Min Party Size and Max Party Size. A party outside the min/max is not offered tables of this type.
  • Disable squeeze slots for this type in the booking widget: hides gap-fill times for this type (Capacity Booster).
  • Assign Tables: select which tables belong to the type. A table has one type.

Drag a type, or use the arrows, to change "the order in which seating options appear in the booking widget".

How to create a table type

  1. Go to Table Management › Table Types and click Add Table Type.
  2. Pick a default type or Custom Type and enter a name.
  3. Optionally add a description, image and booking rules.
  4. Select tables under Assign Tables and click Save. You see "Table type created successfully" (assigning many tables continues in the background).

Good to know

  • Tables without a type are treated as Dining.
  • A type's duration is used only when no duration rule from Planning › Booking Rules matches first (time-of-day override, shift rule, shift default or global range).
  • To release a type online later (for example bar seats on the day itself), use table release rules in Planning › Booking Rules and select the type there. Table types no longer have their own day or time restrictions.
  • Deleting a type unassigns its tables; they become Dining again.
  • Changes refresh the widget's availability in the background.

Troubleshooting

"Please enter a table type name" Give the custom type a name before saving.

"No tables available. All tables are assigned to other types." Every table already has a type. Remove tables from another type first.

"Some tables failed to assign. Please try again." Retry; if it keeps happening, reload the page and check the type's tables.

A seating option is missing in the widget None of that type's tables is free, online bookable or released for that date, or the party is outside the type's min/max party size.

Guests of 2 can't book the bar The Bar type's Min Party Size is higher than 2, or its bar tables need a table release rule to pass first.
