Fit more bookings with Capacity Booster and squeeze mode

Add-on: Capacity Booster (Beta); included in the Optimize packageBackofficeFor ownersBeta

Needs: Admin to switch the add-on and its features on; squeeze on the Dashboard for staff with Dashboard access

Capacity Booster helps you seat more guests with the same floor plan. It moves bookings to better tables after a cancellation (Auto-Reseat), shows capacity opportunities (Capacity Insights), and lets you open short "squeeze" times in gaps between bookings (Squeeze Mode).

Where to find it

  • Switch it on: Backoffice › Settings › Add-ons › Capacity Booster › Enable Capacity Booster.
  • Feature switches and squeeze defaults: the same page, under Feature Controls.
  • Switch squeeze on for a day: Backoffice › Dashboard › Squeeze.

What it does

  • Auto-Reseat: when a reservation is cancelled, eligible bookings are moved onto better tables automatically. VIPs and reservations with notes are skipped.
  • Capacity Insights: capacity opportunity cards on the Dashboard and Reservations.
  • Squeeze Mode: on the Dashboard, turn on Squeeze for the selected day (all shifts or Per shift) and pick a duration, or keep Default from Settings. The Squeeze capacity preview shows the gaps and extra covers it would open.
  • When squeeze is on for a day, the widget also offers times that only fit with a shorter stay, between existing bookings or before closing. These bookings get at least the Default minimum squeeze duration (60 minutes unless you change it), and longer, up to the normal duration, when the gap allows. Guests see the end time of such a slot.
  • Widget squeeze: Squeeze in widget: table types and Squeeze in widget: experiences decide whether gap-fill times also show in the seating-type breakdown and for experiences. Each table type can opt out with "Disable squeeze slots for this type in the booking widget".

How to open squeeze times for a busy Saturday

  1. Make sure Capacity Booster is enabled and Squeeze Mode is on under Feature Controls.
  2. Go to the Dashboard and select the Saturday.
  3. Turn on Squeeze and choose the duration, or keep the default.
  4. Check the preview. The widget picks up the new times after a short refresh.

Good to know

  • Squeeze times are offered only when no table fits the party at the normal duration, or when the normal duration would run past closing.
  • The Default minimum squeeze duration accepts 15 to 300 minutes. Leave it empty to use 60 minutes.
  • Squeeze is set per day. Turning it off returns that day to normal durations for new bookings.
  • Only admins can switch Capacity Booster and its features on or off.

Troubleshooting

"Capacity Booster add-on must be enabled to use squeeze controls on the Dashboard." Enable Capacity Booster in Settings › Add-ons first.

"Enter a duration between 15 and 300 minutes, or leave empty to clear" The minimum squeeze duration is out of range.

Squeeze is on but no extra times appear There may be no gap long enough for the minimum squeeze duration, the table type may have squeeze disabled, or Squeeze in widget: table types is off. Check the Squeeze capacity preview.

A booking was moved to another table without anyone doing it That's Auto-Reseat after a cancellation. Turn it off under Feature Controls if you don't want it.

"Only admins can manage add-ons" Ask a user with the Admin role to change Capacity Booster.
