The "Updating booking widget availability" banner

Included in all packagesBackofficeFor managers

Needs: Any staff user (recomputing manually is in Location Settings)

To make the booking widget fast, 10Seat prepares each date's available times in advance. When you change something that affects availability, those dates are recalculated in the background, and the backoffice shows a blue banner: "Updating booking widget availability…".

Where to find it

The banner appears at the top of every backoffice page while an update runs. A manual recalculation is available in Backoffice › Settings › Location Settings › Advanced Settings › Capacity & Availability Tools.

What it does

  • The banner shows what triggered the update and which dates it covers, for example "Day override updated · 24/10/2026" or "Table updated · 61 dates", and how many batches are still running.
  • Updates start automatically after changes to shifts and hours, day overrides, tables, table groups, table types, seating layouts, booking window, durations, pacing, time slot interval, guest limits, table release rules, experiences and reservations.
  • Every night 10Seat also fills in any missing dates, and every 15 minutes it refreshes dates whose table release time just passed.
  • The banner disappears by itself when the work is done. It checks the status every 30 seconds.

What guests see during an update

  • Guests can keep booking. The widget shows "Loading availability" while it fetches times.
  • For dates still being recalculated, the widget may briefly show the previous availability, or work it out on the spot.
  • Every booking is checked again when the guest confirms it, so a time that is no longer valid is refused instead of double-booked.

How to force a recalculation

  1. Go to Settings › Location Settings › Advanced Settings and open Capacity & Availability Tools.
  2. Click Compute Widget Availability Cache. You see "Widget availability cache computed successfully! X dates computed."
  3. If party sizes or table combinations look wrong, click Trigger Capacity Profile Calculation first. The capacity profile is the precomputed list of tables and table groups that can seat each party size.

The recalculation covers today until the end of your booking window plus 30 days.

Good to know

  • Small changes (one date, one reservation) usually finish within moments. Changes that affect every date, such as editing tables or the booking window, take longer.
  • You don't need to wait for the banner before making more changes.

Troubleshooting

"We could not check widget availability status. Retrying…" The backoffice couldn't read the update status (often a short connection issue). It retries on its own. Your changes are not lost.

The banner has been showing for a long time Large changes on locations with many dates can take a while. Reload the page. If it is still there after a long time, contact 10Seat support.

I changed a setting but the widget still shows the old times Wait for the banner to disappear and reload the widget. If nothing changes, run Compute Widget Availability Cache, then check the setting itself (see "How 10Seat decides which times guests can book").

"Failed to compute widget availability cache" / "Failed to calculate capacity profile" Try again in a minute. If it keeps failing, contact 10Seat support.
