Set which tables fill first (Seating Management)
Seating Management tells 10Seat which tables to give away first when it assigns a table automatically, for example to fill the main room before the back room. It changes which table a booking gets, not whether a time is bookable.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Table Management › Seating Management. The menu item only appears when the Order Priority add-on is on for the location (Settings › Add-ons › Order Priority › Enable Priority).
What it does
- Order Priority per table: Primary (Fill First), Secondary (Overflow) or Last (Only If Necessary). Tables without a setting count as Secondary.
- Edit Order Priority for a selected table also lets you set a Seating Priority (0-1000) ("Higher values = filled first") and attributes such as VIP Table, Window View, Quiet Area, Outdoor Seating, View Quality and Revenue Priority.
- Priority Rules (Beta): switch on Enable Priority Rules to weigh those attributes with points, for example Order Priority Primary Bonus, Order Priority Last Penalty, VIP Table Bonus, Window View Bonus, multipliers, and Time-based Adjustments such as Dinner Window Bonus. Click Save Rules.
How to make the back room overflow only
- Go to Table Management › Seating Management and pick the section.
- Click the back room's tables, or click and drag to select several.
- Choose Last. You see "Table updated successfully".
- Select the main room's tables and choose Primary.
Good to know
- Priorities affect automatic table assignment, such as the table an online booking gets. Your team can always choose another table by hand.
- They don't open or close times. If a slot is full, changing priorities won't make it bookable.
- Section fill priority in Planning › Booking Rules ranks whole sections and is included in every package. Seating Management works per table on top of that.
- Only admins can switch the Order Priority add-on on or off ("Only admins can enable add-ons.").
Troubleshooting
I don't see Seating Management in the menu The Order Priority add-on is off for this location. An Admin can switch it on in Settings › Add-ons.
The Manage button on the Order Priority add-on tile opens "page not found" Open the page from the sidebar instead: Table Management › Seating Management.
Bookings still land on "Last" tables The Primary and Secondary tables that fit the party were taken, or a Last table was the only fit for the party size and duration. Last tables are still used when necessary.
"Failed to save priority rules" / "Failed to update tables" Reload the page and try again. If it keeps failing, contact 10Seat support.
