Set up post-visit review emails and Google review routing
With Post-Visit Reviews, 10Seat emails guests after their visit asking them to rate it from 1 to 5 stars. Happy guests are sent to your Google review page; lower ratings stay private so you can follow up before anything goes public.
Where to find it
- Enable: Backoffice › Settings › Add-ons › Post-Visit Reviews › Enable Post-Visit Reviews (admins only).
- Configure: Backoffice › Settings › Email Automations › Post-Visit Review Email.
- Results: Backoffice › Reviews (see "Read ratings and feedback on the Reviews page").
What it does
- At the chosen time after the reservation, the guest receives "How was your experience at [restaurant]?" with five stars.
- Clicking a star opens a page:
- At or above your threshold: the rating is submitted right away and the guest is taken to your Google review page ("Taking you to Google Reviews..."). Without a Google Review URL they see a thank-you page.
- Below your threshold: a confirmation page opens with the rating pre-filled. The guest can change it, pick what stood out (food, service, ambiance, wait time, value, cleanliness), add a comment, and click Submit rating. This feedback stays internal.
- Ratings and feedback appear on the Reviews page and on the guest's profile.
The email link itself never submits a rating, which keeps accidental taps and email-scanner clicks out of your scores.
How to set it up
- Enable the add-on under Settings › Add-ons › Post-Visit Reviews.
- Open Settings › Email Automations and switch on Post-Visit Review Email.
- Send after visit: 2, 4, 12, 24 (next day) or 48 hours after the reservation time. (A "~1 minute after (testing)" option exists for tests only.)
- Positive review threshold: 3+, 4+ or 5+ stars (default 4+).
- Google Review URL: paste your Google review link. See How to find your Google Review link.
- Who receives review emails:
- Only send to first-time guests — returning guests never get one, or
- If the guest already left a rating: Ask again after every visit, Only ask again after a waiting period (Wait at least … days/months since their last rating), or Never ask again once they have rated.
- Click Save.
- Optional: adjust the look in Email Templates (Post-Visit Review preview).
Good to know
- The timing counts from the reservation start time, not from when the table is marked completed.
- Review emails go to reservations that are confirmed, reconfirmed, seated or completed — not cancelled or no-show ones — and only when the reservation has an email address and is linked to a guest profile.
- Each reservation gets one review email, and the link works for 7 days. A guest can rate once per link ("Already submitted").
- "Guests who received an email but never rated are always eligible again."
- Staff can switch off the review email for a single reservation in the Host app (Upcoming emails).
- Review emails are available in English, Dutch and French.
Troubleshooting
"Enable the Post-Visit Reviews add-on to configure automated review emails." The add-on is off for this location. Click Go to Add-ons and enable it. Only users with the Admin role can do this (currently also not the account Owner) — ask an Admin or contact 10Seat support.
A guest didn't get a review email Check: the automation is on and saved; the reservation had an email address and a linked guest profile; its status wasn't cancelled or no-show; the guest isn't excluded by Who receives review emails; and nobody turned it off in the Host app. Bookings created after the send moment (for example walk-ins entered late) are skipped.
