Use the Shift Brief before and during service

The Shift Brief is a one-page summary for the team: how busy the day or shift is, which VIPs are coming, which bookings carry allergy alerts or notes, and who is late or about to arrive.

Where to find it

Host App › Shift Brief in the menu ("Overview of key information for your shift: VIP guests, allergies, special notes, arrivals, and more.").

What it does

• Day / Shift switch: the whole day, or only the shift selected in the Service View (Lunch, Dinner…). The choice is remembered on the device.
• Weather for today (morning, noon, evening) when the location's address has coordinates.
• Summary: covers, tables in use and number of reservations.
• VIP (…): every VIP booking with time, party size and tables.
• Notes (…): bookings with special requests or internal notes, with the note text.
• Allergy alerts (…): bookings whose tags, special requests or internal notes mention an allergy, a diet or certain needs, with the word that triggered the alert ("Alert: gluten").
• Attention: up to five items, late guests first ("Late … m"), then parties arriving in the next 30 minutes. All clear when there is nothing.

Cancelled and no-show reservations are left out.

How to use it in a pre-shift briefing

1. Select the date in the Service View (the Shift Brief follows it).
2. Open Shift Brief and choose Day or Shift.
3. Go through VIPs, allergy alerts and notes with the team.
4. During service, check Attention for late and arriving parties.

Good to know

• Allergy alerts are found by reading the booking's tags, special requests and internal notes. Allergies that were only entered in a structured form field are shown on the reservation card's allergy icon, but may not appear in this list; check the cards or the printed day sheet as well.
• For a printed version with more detail, use Print the day (List view).
• The menu item can be hidden per device (Shift brief toggle in Display mode; hidden in Simple mode).

Troubleshooting

No weather is shown Weather only shows for today and needs the location's address coordinates in Backoffice › Settings › Location Settings. "Failed to load weather" means the weather service could not be reached.

The numbers don't match the Service View The Shift Brief excludes cancelled and no-show bookings, and in Shift mode only counts the selected shift. Check the date and the Day/Shift switch.

Shift Brief is missing from the menu It is hidden by the display mode on this device. Turn on Shift brief in Settings › General › Display mode.
