Change or extend a gift voucher's expiry date
Every voucher has an expiry date, set from your default validity when it is issued. Staff can move that date for an individual voucher — for example to give a guest more time — even after it has expired.
Where to find it
- Backoffice › Gift Vouchers › Change expiry date (calendar icon) on the voucher's row.
- Host App › Gift Vouchers › Change expiry date on the voucher card.
What it does
The Change expiry date window shows the Current expiry date and offers:
- Extend by quick picks: +3 months, +6 months, +1 year. They count from the current expiry date, or from today if the voucher has already expired, so the new date is never in the past.
- New expiry date — pick any date from today onwards. "The voucher stays valid until the end of this day."
Click Save new date. You see Expiry date changed to . The change is recorded in the transaction history as Expiry date changed with the old and new date.
If the voucher had the status Expired, the window says The voucher will be active again. and the status returns to Active.
How to extend a voucher
- Find the voucher and click Change expiry date.
- Click +3 months, +6 months or +1 year, or choose a date.
- Click Save new date.
Good to know
- Only vouchers that still hold a balance can get a new date. Fully redeemed and cancelled vouchers can't.
- The voucher stays valid until the end of the chosen day in your restaurant's time zone.
- To change the validity of all new vouchers, change Default Expiry Days in Settings › Gift Vouchers › Rules instead.
- What expiry blocks: guests see the voucher as Expired on their voucher page, can't add it when booking online, and partner/till systems can't redeem it. Staff can still redeem it in 10Seat after confirming, and can still link it to a reservation in the Host App.
- When a voucher's date passes, its status stays Active in the list; the date turns red with an Expired tag.
- Changing the date doesn't send a new email to the guest. Use Resend email if you want them to receive the voucher again with the new date.
