Chef's View (kitchen display)

Add-on: Chef's view (enabled for your location by 10Seat)Chef's ViewFor hosts

Needs: Any staff user with a 10Seat login

Chef's View is a separate, read-only screen for the kitchen. It shows today's guests who are seated and arriving, with allergies and dietary needs highlighted, and a pacing view of covers per time slot, so the kitchen can prepare without asking the floor.

Where to find it

Chef's View is its own web app with its own address. Ask 10Seat support for the link for your location. Sign in on the Sign in page with your normal 10Seat staff email and password ("Use your 10Seat staff credentials").

What it does

  • Shows today's reservations for your primary location (the same location as your Host App). Cancelled and no-show bookings are left out. Updates live.
  • Header: CHEF'S VIEW, the location name, the mode buttons Overview, Clear and Pacing, the clock, a light/dark switch, Settings (allergen filter), fullscreen and sign out.
  • Alert badges across the top: one badge per allergy (red) and per dietary need (amber) with the number of bookings. Tap badges to highlight matching bookings; others are dimmed and highlighted ones move to the top. Clear removes the highlight.

Overview

  • SEATED NOW (…) with the number of covers, and ARRIVING (…) (confirmed and pending bookings from 30 minutes ago up to the next hour) with a "… late" badge.
  • Cards show time, table, party size, guest, allergies and dietary needs. Tap a card for full details: VIP, accessibility, allergies and diets per guest, preferences, wine pairing, reservation notes, guest notes and special requests.
  • Footer: total covers, reservations and "… with allergies".

Clear – a large clock, an ALLERGY ALERT banner with the first allergy bookings, and NEXT UP: the next five late or arriving parties. "Tap any row for details."

Pacing – SERVICE PACING: covers and reservations per 15 min, 30 min or 60 min from 11:00 to midnight, with totals, Currently Seated, Still to Arrive, and a breakdown table (time, reservations, covers, tables). Highlighting an allergy or diet shows the filtered covers.

How to set up a kitchen screen

  1. Open the Chef's View link on the kitchen tablet or screen and sign in.
  2. Tap Settings and hide allergens your kitchen doesn't need to be alerted about ("Hide allergens your kitchen doesn't handle."). Reset to show all undoes it.
  3. Choose Overview or Clear, and tap fullscreen.

Good to know

  • Chef's View cannot change anything: seating and edits are done in the Host App.
  • The allergen filter is saved on that device only.
  • Allergies come from the booking, the guest's intake answers and the party members' details.

Troubleshooting

The screen stays empty or shows the wrong restaurant Chef's View uses your user's primary location. An admin can change it in Backoffice › Settings › Users, or use a login whose primary location is this restaurant.

"Failed to login" or an error on the sign-in page Check the email and password; they are the same as for the Backoffice and the Host App.

An allergy I expect is not shown It may be hidden in Settings on this screen ("Filtering: … allergens hidden" in the footer). Tap Reset to show all.
