Analytics Planning tab — volume, lead time, channels and predictive outlook
The Planning tab helps you plan staff and stock: how many guests you had in a period, how far ahead they book, where bookings come from, and whether upcoming days are filling up faster or slower than usual.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Analytics › Planning. Choose the period with the date range picker (default: last 30 days). The Predictive Outlook has its own weeks selector and always looks forward from today.
What it does
Summary cards (selected period)
- Total Reservations — every reservation on the dates in the range, all statuses included (also cancelled and no-show).
- Total Covers — covers of active reservations only (see the Analytics overview).
- Avg Party Size — covers divided by active reservations.
- Avg Lead Time — average number of days between the moment a booking was made and the reservation time, with the % same-day bookings.
Predictive Outlook — for each day in the next 2, 4 (default), 6 or 8 weeks, compares the covers already booked with the average covers for that weekday over the last 12 weeks. Days are marked Above avg (>110%), On track (80–110%) or Below avg (<80%); the chart shows the Historical avg with a range band. The summary shows days above, on track and below, and Overall: N% of average. Show shift breakdown splits each day by your shifts.
Charts (selected period)
- Daily Covers Trend — covers per day.
- Booking Lead Time — bookings grouped by how far ahead they were made: same day, 1 day, 2–3, 4–7, 8–14, 15–30 and 30+ days.
- Lead Time by Day of Week — average lead time per weekday (longer lead times give more planning runway).
- Channel Mix — share of reservations per source, such as Widget, Host app, Phone, Walk-in, Waitlist, Google, Backoffice, External API or Unknown. All statuses are counted.
- Avg Covers by Day of Week — the 12-week weekday averages used as the outlook's baseline.
- Time Slot Demand (Avg Covers) — covers per starting hour over the selected period.
- Covers by Day of Week (Selected Period).
- Source Shift Over Time — reservations per source per day.
Good to know
- Early in the outlook window it is normal to be "below": bookings for days further away haven't come in yet. The comparison is against final covers of past weeks.
- Days with no history for that weekday are left out of the outlook.
- Lead time only includes reservations that have a booking time recorded; imported reservations may be missing it.
- Time Slot Demand shows the total covers per hour for the period, despite "Avg" in its title.
- Weekday averages include days you were closed (as 0 covers), which lowers the average for that weekday.
Troubleshooting
The Predictive Outlook shows "below" for every day You may have fewer than a few weeks of history, or bookings mostly come in close to the date. Compare again closer to the day.
Channel Mix shows a large "Unknown" slice Those reservations have no source recorded, often imported or older ones. See the Data Quality tab (Source under Missing Fields).
Total Reservations is much higher than covers suggest Total Reservations includes cancelled and no-show bookings; covers don't.
