Booking widget languages
The booking widget is translated into ten languages and picks one automatically for each guest. Guests can switch language themselves at any time.
Where to find it
There is no setting to configure. Guests use the language button (for example "EN") at the top of the widget.
What it does
Available languages: English, Nederlands, Français (France), Français (Canada), Español, Português, Deutsch, Català, Euskara and Italiano.
The widget picks the language in this order:
- A language fixed in the website code (see below).
- The language the guest chose last time in this browser.
- The language of the guest's browser or phone.
- English, when none of the above is supported.
The language a guest books in is saved on the reservation, so confirmation emails and the guest app can use the same language.
How to set it up
To force a language on a page (for example the French version of your website), ask your web developer to add data-language="fr" (or nl, de, es, pt, it, ca, eu, en; fr-CA for Canadian French) to the <div id="10seat-booking"> line of the embedded code. The setting must sit on that line, not on the script line. For the bubble, add the same line with data-language just above the bubble code.
On your 10Seat microsite, the widget follows the language the guest picks on the microsite.
Good to know
- Your own texts are not translated: custom screen texts, experience names and descriptions, shift names, consent text and messages such as "Full service message" are shown exactly as you typed them.
- In the language menu, Français (Canada) and Català both show the short code "CA"; the full name is shown in the list.
- Dates and day names follow the chosen language.
Troubleshooting
The widget opens in English for a Dutch/French guest Their browser or phone is set to English, or a language is fixed in the website code. The guest can switch with the language button; it is remembered for next time.
My French website shows the widget in Dutch
The guest switched to Dutch earlier, and that choice is remembered. Add data-language="fr" on your French pages as described above to force French.
I added data-language but nothing changed
It was added to the script line. Move it to the <div id="10seat-booking"> line.
Part of the widget stays in English after switching That part is text you typed yourself (an experience, a shift name or a custom text). Rewrite it, for example in two languages.
The widget breaks after the guest uses "Translate this page" in Chrome The widget tells browsers not to translate it. If a guest forces translation, ask them to switch it off and use the widget's own language button instead.
