Combine tables for larger parties (table groups)
When a party is bigger than any single table, 10Seat can book several tables together, but only tables you have put in a table group. A table group is a row of tables in the order they stand, for example 11 → 12 → 13 → 14 along a wall.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Table Management › Capacity Planning › Table Linking (create groups) and Manage Groups (edit, delete, switch combinations off).
What it does
- A group lists tables in order. 10Seat can combine any run of neighbouring tables in that order: with 11 → 12 → 13, the combinations are 11+12, 12+13 and 11+12+13 (not 11+13).
- A combination seats the sum of its tables' seats. Optional Extra End Seats add places at each end of a run of 4 or more tables (for example a chair at the head of a long table); for 2 or 3 tables they are added once. In Manage Groups you can also change the extra end seats of a single combination.
- Under Combinations, each combination has an icon to "Stop this combination from being booked" without breaking up the group. It then shows Not bookable; click again to allow it.
- When 10Seat picks tables automatically, sections with a higher Section fill priority are preferred.
How to create a table group
- Go to Table Management › Capacity Planning and click Table Linking.
- Click the tables on the floor plan in the order they stand. Selected tables get purple borders and position numbers.
- Review the preview combinations in the sidebar. Optionally set Extra End Seats.
- Click Confirm & Save in the header. You see "Created table group: 11 → 12 → 13".
How to stop one combination being booked
- In Capacity Planning, click Manage Groups and open the group.
- Under Combinations, click the icon next to the combination (for example 12+13).
- You see "12 + 13 can no longer be booked". The rest of the group still works.
Good to know
- Tables need to be auto-assignable (online bookable) to be combined online.
- Every table of a combination must be free for the whole booking duration.
- Links you draw on the Floor Plan page (Start Linking) help your team in the Host App, but on their own they don't make a combination bookable online. Use a table group for that.
- The Capacity Simulator in Capacity Planning shows which single tables and combinations fit a given number of guests.
- After saving, the capacity profile and widget availability update shortly.
Troubleshooting
Guests can't book for 8 although two 4-tops are free The two tables aren't neighbours in a table group, the combination is switched off, one table isn't online bookable, or one is booked during part of the duration. Check the group in Manage Groups and test with Capacity Simulator.
"This table group already exists." A group with the same tables in the same order exists. Edit that group instead.
"Failed to create table group. Please try again." Reload the page and try again. If it keeps failing, contact 10Seat support.
A combination gives fewer seats than expected Combinations count the tables' normal seats, not their additional seats. Add Extra End Seats to the group, or to that combination in Manage Groups.
