Connect another tool through the 10Seat Partner API

API keys are issued by 10Seat on requestIntegrationsFor owners

Needs: Request through 10Seat support (account owner or admin)

The 10Seat Partner API lets an outside system — a POS, a marketing tool, a group website, a custom app — read and write your 10Seat data. Access works with an API key that 10Seat issues for your company and that only works for your own locations.

Where to find it

There is no API key screen in the backoffice. Keys are created by 10Seat. The public API documentation is at partner.10seat.com/docs. Your developer or integration partner uses that documentation; you only need to request access.

What it does

Depending on the permissions 10Seat gives the key, a connected tool can:

  • Reservations: list reservations, get one reservation, create a reservation, cancel a reservation.
  • Locations: list your locations and read a location's details.
  • Gift vouchers: validate a voucher and redeem a voucher.
  • POS data (Lightspeed venues): list orders and read an order; read menu categories, products and stock. Creating or changing products is only possible for partners that 10Seat has approved for it.

Every key is tied to your company. It can be limited to specific locations, and it can be a test key (only for test locations, never your live data) or a live key.

How to request access

  1. Decide which tool needs access and what it should do (for example "create reservations from our group website" or "read today's orders").
  2. Contact 10Seat support with: the tool or partner name, which locations it needs, and what it needs to read or change.
  3. 10Seat creates the key for your company with only the permissions that tool needs, and gives it to you or your integration partner. Integration partners who work with several restaurants manage their keys in the 10Seat partner portal.
  4. Your developer or partner follows the documentation to connect.

Good to know

  • Treat an API key like a password. Anyone who has it can use it with the permissions it was given.
  • A key only works for locations of your company; requests for other locations are refused.
  • If a key leaks, or you stop working with a partner, contact 10Seat support to have the key replaced or switched off.
  • Want an AI assistant to read your data instead of a third-party system? See "Connect an AI assistant with MCP Access".

Troubleshooting

Our partner gets "Access denied for this location" or "Location does not belong to this API key company" The key is limited to other locations, or the location belongs to another company. Ask 10Seat support to add the location to the key.

Our partner gets "Test API keys cannot access live restaurant data" They are using a test key on your live location. They need a live key — ask 10Seat support.

Our partner gets "Invalid or inactive API key" The key is wrong, was replaced, or was switched off. Contact 10Seat support.

The partner can read reservations but cannot create them The key doesn't have permission to write reservations. Ask 10Seat support to review the key's permissions.
