Staff notifications in the Host App

Included in all plansHost AppFor hosts

Needs: Any staff user

The bell in the Host App tells the team when something happens that they did not do themselves: a guest booked online, changed or cancelled their booking, or paid on a booking that was already closed.

Where to find it

  • The bell icon in the Service View header (on smaller screens: More actions › Notifications; on a phone: top bar). A badge shows the number of unread notifications.
  • View all notifications at the bottom of the bell opens the full Notifications page ("All staff notifications for this location, including read and unread.").

What it does

Notifications are created for the current location for:

  • New reservations made by guests or partners: through your booking widget, the guest AI chat, Reserve with Google, connected partner channels and the API. The line shows the guest, "Booked for … guests", date and time, and where it came from (for example Widget or API).
  • Changed – a guest changed their own booking ("… changed", with what changed: party size, date, time…).
  • Cancelled – a guest cancelled their own booking.
  • Payment received on an inactive reservation – a guest paid after the booking was closed ("Reinstate the booking or refund the payment.").
  • Deposit problems, for example when a paid booking could not be given a table.

Staff actions (bookings you create, changes and cancellations you make) do not create notifications.

How to work with notifications

  1. Tap the bell.
  2. Use the tabs All, New reservations, Changed, Cancelled, and the All / Unread / Read filter.
  3. Tap a notification to open the reservation in the Service View on its date. It is marked as read.
  4. Use Mark as read or Mark all as read to clear the badge.
  5. On the Notifications page, Load more notifications shows older ones.

Good to know

  • Notifications are per location: you only see those of your current Host App location.
  • Read/unread status is shared by the team, so one person marking a notification as read clears it for everyone.
  • Email notifications to staff are separate and set in the Backoffice (Settings › Communications).

Troubleshooting

I made a booking but there is no notification That is expected: only guest and partner actions create notifications.

"Could not mark notification as read" The change could not be saved. Check your connection and try again.

Notifications for another restaurant don't show The bell only shows the current location. Switch location (see "See all your locations and switch location in the Host App").

A notification opens the wrong day The Service View jumps to the reservation's date. Use the date arrows to go back to today.
