Handle bookings made on Reserve with Google
Bookings made through Google Search or Maps arrive in 10Seat as normal confirmed reservations. This article covers what they look like, what happens when the guest or your team changes them, and common problems.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Reservations and the Host app, like any reservation. The source shows as Google.
What it does
- New booking: the reservation is created as confirmed with the guest's name, email, phone and any request typed on Google. A table is assigned automatically, just like a widget booking. If the guest picked an experience on Google, it is linked to that experience.
- Guest profile: the booking is matched to an existing guest when possible. Google never overwrites the name, phone or email you already have for that guest.
- Guest changes on Google: the guest can cancel, or change the date, time or party size, from Google. 10Seat checks availability again and assigns a new table; if nothing fits, Google tells the guest the change isn't possible and the booking stays as it was.
- Your changes in 10Seat: when you cancel, move or change the party size of a Google booking in the backoffice or Host app, 10Seat tells Google, so the guest's Google booking stays up to date.
How to handle a Google booking
- Treat it like any other reservation: seat, move, or edit it in the Host app or backoffice.
- To cancel it, cancel it in 10Seat as usual — Google is informed automatically.
- If the guest calls to change it, make the change in 10Seat; Google shows the new details.
Good to know
- Your custom email automations skip Google bookings unless the guest agreed to marketing. This rule does not apply to booking messages or the review email.
- Google bookings follow the same online booking rules as your widget at the moment of booking.
- Each time slot and party size can be booked once through Google; your own widget and staff bookings are not limited by this.
Troubleshooting
A guest says Google showed a time but then said it was unavailable Between Google's daily update and the guest's click, the slot was taken or closed (another booking, a blocked time, last booking time passed). Google always checks live with 10Seat before confirming, so the guest was not double-booked.
A guest changed the booking on Google but we don't see the change The change was probably refused because no table fitted the new time or party size. The booking in 10Seat is the valid one. Ask the guest to check their Google confirmation.
We cancelled a Google booking but the guest still sees it on Google 10Seat notifies Google as soon as you cancel. If the guest still sees it after a while, contact 10Seat support with the reservation.
Google bookings don't have a table Google bookings get a table automatically. In capacity-only (tableless) mode no table is assigned by design. Otherwise contact 10Seat support.
