Use the Service Calendar (Day Planner)
The Service Calendar shows, day by day, whether your restaurant is open, which shifts run and which sections and experiences are bookable. It is where you make exceptions for a single date without touching your weekly hours.
Where to find it
Backoffice › Planning › Service Calendar. The page itself is titled Day Planner.
What it does
- Date & quick actions. Step through days with the arrows, jump back with Today, and see the weather forecast for the day. General Settings opens your holidays, Widget Reservation Active Dates and default seating duration.
- Calendar. Each day shows its status. Switch the view between Overview, Shifts, Sections and Experiences. Statuses are:
- Open: regular operating hours.
- Deviated Hours (Custom Hours): this date has its own hours.
- Closed for Reservations: open, but no online reservations (waitlist only).
- Closed: the whole day is closed. A paused icon means the date is outside your Widget Reservation Active Dates, so the widget won't accept bookings that day. A dot marks days with a staff day note.
- Day drawer. Click a day to open Day Specific Settings. Here you can halt online bookings, close or reopen the day, change or add shifts for that date, close sections, and switch experiences on or off. See "Change hours, close or halt bookings for one date".
- Table release rules (online). If you use table release rules, the drawer shows which tables the widget can offer for that day, and you can Release now a single table.
How to open a date's settings
- Go to Planning › Service Calendar.
- Click the date in the calendar.
- Make your change in the Day Specific tab. Most changes save immediately and a confirmation appears.
Good to know
- A change made here applies to that date only. Your weekly hours stay in Settings › Location hours and shifts.
- A single-date change always wins over a holiday range that covers the same date. Changing one day inside a holiday does not change the rest of the holiday.
- When you change a date, the widget's availability for that date is refreshed in the background.
- Staff and phone bookings in the Host App are not blocked by "Closed for Reservations"; only online booking is.
Troubleshooting
I made changes in the Period Management tab but nothing changed The Period Management tab currently does not save its settings. Change dates one at a time in the Day Specific tab, use General Settings › Holidays to close a range of dates, or contact 10Seat support for help with a longer period.
The "Disable Online Bookings" switch in General Settings doesn't stop bookings That switch does not affect the booking widget. To stop online bookings for a date, use Halt online on that date. To stop them for a longer period, set Widget Reservation Active Dates or close the dates as holidays.
The "Default Reservation Cutoff" and "Min/Max Party Size" in General Settings have no effect These fields don't control the widget. Set cut-offs per shift in Planning › Booking Rules, and party sizes in Settings › Widget Management › Booking Rules tab.
A day shows "Closed" but I never closed it The weekday has no shifts in your weekly hours, or the date falls inside a holiday. Open the day and use Reopen day, or check General Settings › Holidays.
