Change pacing limits for one date
A date exception gives one date its own pacing limits, for example a lower cap on a night with a set menu or a higher cap on a quiet holiday. Your weekly pacing stays unchanged.
Where to find it
- Backoffice › Planning › Pacing › Date Exceptions › Add Exception.
- Host App › Availability › Pacing tab (for any date you pick in the week strip).
What it does
- In the backoffice, an exception sets Max Covers per Slot and optionally Max Reservations per Slot for one Date. Leave max reservations empty to inherit the normal value.
- In the Host App, you can set the shift's Default / slot for that date and a Max for individual slots, in Covers or Bookings. Each change shows as Edited until you tap Apply; Reset returns a slot to the inherited limit.
- A date exception wins over all weekly pacing settings for that date: first a time slot limit for the date, then a shift limit for the date, then the date's per-slot max.
How to add an exception in the backoffice
- Go to Planning › Pacing and scroll to Date Exceptions.
- Click Add Exception, pick the Date and enter Max Covers per Slot (and optionally Max Reservations per Slot).
- Confirm. You see "Exception added".
- Click Save pacing. The exception is only stored once you save.
To remove it, open the exception and click Remove this exception, then Save pacing.
How to lower pacing for tonight in the Host App
- Tap Availability, select the date and open the Pacing tab.
- Choose Covers or Bookings, then use the minus button next to Default / slot, or next to Max on a single slot.
- Tap Apply. Online availability for that date is recalculated.
Good to know
- Exceptions only change pacing. To close the day, a shift or a slot, use the Service Calendar or the slot switches in Day availability.
- Limits are whole numbers from 0 upward; 0 closes the slot for online booking.
- Edits in the Host App only change the date you're on. Saving the backoffice Pacing page saves all exceptions at once, so reload the page before saving if someone just changed a date in the Host App.
Troubleshooting
"Please select a date" Pick a date before confirming the exception.
I added an exception but nothing changed In the backoffice, an exception is kept only after you click Save pacing. In the Host App, you must tap Apply.
The Pacing tab is read-only in the Host App "You can view pacing but not change it" means your role lacks "Manage pacing settings". Ask an Owner or Admin.
An exception I made in the Host App disappeared The backoffice Pacing page may have been saved from an older view. Add the exception again and reload the backoffice page before saving there.
