Set up digital queuing for walk-ins

Add-on: Digital queuingBackofficeFor managers

Needs: Admin role

Digital queuing is a same-day line for walk-in guests. Guests join by scanning a QR code or opening a link, see their place in line on their phone, and get an email when their table is ready. Hosts manage the line from the Host app.

Where to find it

  • Backoffice › Settings › Add-ons › Digital queuing
  • Once enabled, also under Backoffice › Settings › Digital queuing (Guest experience section).
  • On the floor: Host app › Queue (QR code and floor actions).

What it does

Feature toggle – Enable digital queuing / Disable digital queuing. "When off, APIs and guest join reject new queue entries for this venue."

Queue behaviour › Settings:

  • Hold time after notify (minutes) – how long the guest has to arrive after you call them (1 to 120; default 15).
  • Max queue size – parties waiting at once; 0 = unlimited (default).
  • Estimate buffer (minutes) – extra margin on the wait estimate (0 to 60; default 5).
  • Default slot duration (minutes) – 0 uses the location's default reservation length.
  • QR / join URL override (optional) – leave blank to use the standard join link.
  • Offer shorter tables – when a table is free only for a short window (a booking is due after it), offer it to the next fitting party. They accept from their status page and get a shorter reservation. Set Minimum offer length (minutes) (default 60) and Time to accept (minutes) (default 5).

How to set it up

  1. Select the location, go to Settings › Add-ons and open Digital queuing.
  2. If a subscription is required, choose the billing interval and click Subscribe.
  3. Click Enable digital queuing.
  4. Adjust the Queue behaviour settings and click Save settings.
  5. In the Host app, open Queue to show or print the QR code for guests.

Good to know

  • Guests choose a party size between your widget's minimum and maximum party size. Larger groups are asked to contact you.
  • Hosts can also add walk-in parties to the queue from the Host app, using the same availability rules.
  • Guests get an email when they join and when you notify them that their table is ready.

Troubleshooting

Guests see "Link not valid" The join link is incomplete, or queuing is off. Use the QR code from the Host app Queue screen and check that the add-on is enabled.

Guests get "Queue is full" Max queue size is reached. Raise it or set 0 for unlimited.

Guests see "No tables free for this size right now — try another party size." No table can take that party within the search window. Try again later or seat them by hand.
